So! Had my first class for 2010! It was also the first time I've attended a lecture since 2009 mid july! The class had a rather mixed population, from different nationalities to age group to dress code. Really like a mix and match disaster kinda thing.Anyway I'm already finding accounts a challenge!! Firstly, I must say I really have zero idea of accounts. So to me, terms like 'Double Entry', 'Ledger', 'Drawings' etc etc do seem a bit alien for me. The tables of balancing is also quite a challenge, but already with some practice I'm beginning to see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Ok my mind is a blank, guess I'll end it off here...

Asian Cup Qualifier! 7:30, National Stadium!

We left Bishan at 6:45 p.m., and we barely made it to the Stadium on time la, traffic was really bad. Usually doesn't take too long to get there but yeah this time it was horrible. Missed like the first.. 5 minutes? Good news is we managed to get good seats somehow..=)

The match was, well, you can't say that we played badly, but truthfully, this is a game where the result was all. Sure, the penalty awarded against us was really harsh. After checking Tv replays our defender did get the ball and moreover it was outside the penalty box. But that's about it. 2nd goal we conceded was a schoolboy error of a very screwed up back pass. We also had our chances, it's not like we were totally being dominated, but we didn't take the chances we had.
Now, we need to win our last game against Jordan and hope Iran beats/draw with Thailand in order to qualify. Once again, we made it difficult for ourselves..
But well, was an enjoyable match to watch with the Tommy Morons =)




P.S. As you can see, the New Paper, Noh Alam Shah and myself shared the same thoughts on the game..
P.P.S. Final score was 3-1 not 2-1, didn't take a picture of that..

Mum cooked Hainanese Chicken Rice for dinner! N the chicken was awesome! Finally went to Shanghai Dolly! The new (well not so new anymore) renovated club which was like a cheena kind of ambiance. There were some female waitresses dressed in the traditional chong sam, and most of them straightaway speak mandarin. The visit was actually quite good! I mean if you're the type of Singaporean that speaks mandarin and all, think you will like it. They do have bands singing on the stage every now and then. A mixture of Canto. and Chinese songs! The range of the Chinese ones were quite huge! From the new songs by 五月天, to the songs in the early 2000 such by Elva, to the old songs of 对你爱爱爱不完 and 特别的爱给特别的你! Some female performers were using traditional chinese instruments too! Like the Er Hu etc etc.. overall I think we had a very good time.=) Will def. head back there every now and then!

Had a potluck at Miriam's place with the earlier batch of K Blockers plus friends!! (2005!) Everyone bought plenty of food! Duck, Chicken Rice, Bee Hoon, Durian, handmade puffs! etc etc.. a few left overs here and there but I must say we did pretty well to finish the food. Think the main highlight of the night was when Ken showed the video clips of his wedding.. it was like really.. awww so sweet kinda feeling. N of course, the catching up is always good!





SO! 2O09 is gone in a flash! From the rushing of thesis in the first half to the year to the constant running, working a bit and getting my fitness back in the 2nd half. Looking back, I won't say 2009 had been a fantastic year. I mean of course there's the good stuff! (which I'm very greatful about), but there were some hip-cups every now and then, and partially I claim responsibility of it.

I must be thankful of 2009 though! Off hand I do remember the good times I had with people every now and then! The small things people do that made my day a bit better, like Linc. coming into my room in the middle of the night, grabbing my bowl and returning with some nice cooked pasta he was doing in the pantry. Or of my supervisor keeping her door open to me at all times for consultation, the gatherings at various places where everyone had a good laugh and all. Also the buds. who met up with me when my life was screwed up.

I think the down side (in terms of events) for 2009 must have been the July period. There and then, I made a mistake which kinda cost me dearly. Outcome was all wrong, friendships were jeopardized and of course my trusted buds get to say "I've bloody told you so!" But, on the other hand, I guess it's good I went ahead with my decision, because if I don't, I would never had learn from this debacle, which though affected my life it wasn't blown out of proportion. A painful lesson, but something which I will carry with me the next time I deal with people. I guess various incidents of 2009 had caused me to change on how I deal with people in general, though I'm happy that the expectations of some were not lowered.

N gosh you can really feel the festive season here. Even during the weekdays seems like everywhere is packed. Take yesterday for example. Headed to town with Anthony with the idea of chilling and then catching a show, checked out a few movie outlets, but almost every time/show is full! Unless we're willing to wait for a few hours and that's not what we have in mind. Engaged in quite a few 'big' conversations with Ant. during our coffee break (yeah we suddenly got very philosophical though not as insane as Freud). Mainly surrounds the topic of humans in general, and the conclusion was bleak. Then met up with a few friends for dinner plus she sha, and even the Clarke Quay area is packed!

Got a phone call in the night by some unknown number, then realised that it's LCCI reminding me that my school starts next Tues. I'm kinda looking forward going back to the books actually! Somehow I do miss the essays and readings. Believe or not, every now and then I'll re-read some articles or books from my past units just because I find it interesting. Of course this will be a much different course, no more Nero, Claudius, Sophocles etc etc, hello calculator, formulas and tables.. we'll see how this goes.. but the mood at the moment is looking forward to it.
